For a century and a half, Charlotte Brontë's classic novel Jane Eyre has continued to entertain
and inspire generations, making it one of the truly great love stories of all time. On August 17, 2000, WhiteRose
Productions, in association with the RITA Foundation, brought this epic story of triumph and beauty to the stage
in the world premiere performance of "Jane Eyre: The Musical."
Over five years in the making, "Jane Eyre: The Musical" features an original score of 20 songs. The ensemble
cast of the premiere production included award-winning performers who captured the soul of this timeless story
and brought it to life as it was truly meant to be seen and heard.
The public response was overwhelming. Not only did the generous donations of community individuals and businesses
make the production possible, but the audiences' enthusiastic reaction was unequaled for new works in this region.
Few eyes were dry as the curtain closed and we received numerous positive comments from audience members, including
such phrases as: "This is the best show I've ever seen." "It was the highlight of our year."
"My daughter is still singing the songs." Newspaper reviewers were also kind. One theatre professor and
director wrote: "It was truly a remarkable achievement. . . . bottom line, the script, the directing, the
score, and the acting were all first rate!"
What is commonly said in show business is particularly true of "Jane Eyre: The Musical"-this show must
go on! Many more audiences need to be inspired by the spectacle, the wonder and mystery that is "Jane Eyre:
The Musical." If you are a producer, director, agent or other theatre professional-or even if you know one-you
owe it to your industry to find out more about this show. Please
contact us, and we will be happy to send presentational
materials for your review. |
